Jonas Bohlin 'Concrete' Armchairs, First Wooden Edition, Sweden, 1980s
DETAILS
A pair of ‘Concrete’ armchairs by Jonas Bohlin, produced in Sweden in the 1980s. These examples belong to the first wooden edition, following Bohlin’s original 1981 Concrete chair. The design is based on a clear construction: a tubular steel frame combined with flat wooden planes for the seat and back. The continuous armrest line defines the outline of the chair, while the vertical back panel introduces a strong, architectural presence. Originally conceived as a graduation project at Konstfack, the Concrete chair challenged conventional ideas of comfort and material use, becoming a key work in postmodern Scandinavian design.
CONDITION
These object chairs have been preserved in original condition, showing minor paint loss and surface patina consistent with age.
