Dining Chairs in Smoked Plexiglass and Chrome by Eurosteel, Set of Eight, France 1970s
DETAILS
A set of eight dining chairs produced by Eurosteel in France during the 1970s, often attributed to designer Boris Tabacoff. The chairs feature yellow tinted smoked plexiglass seats with gently curved profiles, paired with circular chrome-plated steel bases that create a light yet grounded stance.
Each chair is fitted with a cream leather cushion, providing contrast to the translucent shell and enhancing comfort. The combination of industrial materials and refined execution reflects the experimentation of 1970s French design, where Eurosteel was a notable producer of progressive furniture forms.
The attribution to Tabacoff arises from the close aesthetic relationship to his designs for Mobilier Modulaire Moderne, particularly the use of smoked plexiglass and signature half-moon chrome bases. While not formally documented within his MMM collections, these pieces are frequently linked to his body of work by collectors and galleries.
CONDITION
The smoked plexiglass shells present surface marks consistent with age and use. Two cushions show light discoloration, visible upon inspection but not detracting from overall presentation. Chrome bases remain in perfect structural condition.
