Heeremans studied under Ewald Mataré and further developed his practice in the ateliers of Anthoni Clavé and Albert Saverijs. These formative modernist influences resonate in the disciplined geometry and muted tonal palette that define the painting. Painted in layered oils, with visible brushwork and gentle shifts in the surface, the work has both weight and refinement. This painting is dated on the back to november 1977.
