The Wammes lounge chair, designed by Gerard van den Berg in the early 1970s and produced by Montis in the Netherlands. The design is defined by its generous padded leather upholstery and sculptural profile, set on a swiveling pedestal base. Van den Berg, founder of Montis and one of the leading figures in post-war Dutch furniture design, became known for his emphasis on comfort and the expressive possibilities of soft leather forms. The Wammes chair reflects this approach: voluminous, relaxed, and distinctly characteristic of 1970s Space-Age lounge seating.
