Large Scavo Murano Glass Table Lamp by Alfredo Barbini, Italy 1970's

€2,400.00

DETAILS
A large table lamp designed and signed by Alfredo Barbini, produced in Murano, Italy, circa 1970. The lamp is executed in the ‘Scavo’ technique, developed to give glass the appearance of ancient excavated artifacts. Light filters gently through the scavo glass shade, creating a low, ambient glow that underscores the lamp’s sculptural presence. The base surface presents a matte, mineral quality - soft in texture and subtle in tone - demonstrating Barbini’s understanding of material manipulation. This work is typical for Barbini, who opened his own workshop in the early 1950s. His designs from this period reflect a shift toward more elemental and textural explorations within the Venetian tradition.
