Produced in Italy around 1930, this sideboard is a fine example of early Rationalist furniture, combining architectural clarity with an unusually expressive composition. Executed in walnut, the façade is arranged as a series of intersecting volumes rather than a symmetrical front. The projecting oval compartment houses three semicircular drawers, balanced by a cabinet, open shelving and a stack of drawers.

The result is a composition that feels carefully resolved, with each element contributing to the overall rhythm of the piece. The warm walnut is contrasted by deep red Bakelite handles, an unmistakably modern material at the time. Their simple geometric form reinforces the restrained character of the design while adding a subtle graphic accent to the façade. The sideboard is beautifully detailed throughout, from the rounded drawer fronts to the gently curved edges of the projecting volume. Although conceived as a functional storage piece, it possesses a distinctly sculptural presence, reflecting the close relationship between architecture and furniture in Italian design of the period.
