Carlo Scarpa 'Quatour' Dining Table, Simon Gavina, Italy, 1974
DETAILS
Designed by Carlo Scarpa and produced by Simon Gavina in 1974, this large Quatour table is a measured and thoughtful piece, translating architectural ideas into furniture. Originally sketched by Scarpa in 1947, the design was brought into production nearly three decades later as part of Gavina’s Ultrarazionale collection in very small numbers.
The table features a square walnut top with two folded edges that define its perimeter. Four geometric vertical supports form the base - precise and evenly spaced. Executed entirely in solid warm walnut, the Quatour reflects Scarpa’s focus on proportion, material honesty, and refined construction. The table comfortably seats up to 8 persons.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition. Minor surface wear consistent with age. Some marks on the base, the top is almost perfect.
